FC Barcelona’s sensational winger Lamine Yamal has emerged as the leading contender for the 2025 Ballon d'Or, according to a renowned media outlet.

Meanwhile, Manchester City's midfielder Rodri’s injury ruled him out for the majority of last season, meaning the 2024 winner won’t be around to defend his crown.

The previous edition witnessed a razor-thin contest, with the Spanish midfielder just edging past Vinícius Júnior. Cristiano Ronaldo later argued his former club’s talisman should have won, sparking outrage and prompting Real Madrid to snub the Paris ceremony.

Who will win Ballon d'Or 2025?

According to TNT Sports, Lamine Yamal, who chipped in 18 goals and 25 assists last season, is the hottest favourite to win the 2025 Ballon d'Or as he leads their power rankings, well ahead of Ousmane Dembele.

According to the outlet, despite Yamal enduring a disappointing Nations League campaign and Barcelona falling short in the Champions League, failing to reach the final, the club still secured the La Liga title, lifted the Copa del Rey, and advanced to the Champions League semi-finals, with Yamal playing a central role.
