After filing the forms, Bawumia underscored the need for the party to remain united as the flagbearer race heats up.
He also rallied supporters to help in rebuilding the party after its devastating election loss to the National Democratic Congress.
“To win 2028, we must not just talk unity; we must live it. The repeated attacks by our own party folk on one another are absolutely unhelpful. What we say against each other is what the NDC will use against us in 2028.

Bawumia also urged party aspirants to be civil in their campaigns and concentrate their efforts against the Mahama administration.

NPP delegates and supporters gather at party headquarters ahead of Dr Bawumia's nomination filing
Earlier in August, Kennedy Agyapong’s spokesperson, Kwasi Kwarteng, argued that Bawumia would not help the NPP win power in 2028 if made flagbearer.
He claimed the former Vice-President was unmarketable and posed no threat to Agyapong's campaign, and rather endangered the party's future.
Kwarteng also held that delegates would cause irreparable harm to the NPP if they selected Bawumia as the party's flagbearer in next January's presidential primary.
"If Dr Bawumia wins, it's not a threat to Ken's campaign but rather to the NPP as a party. No matter how you market him [Bawumia], people don't want to patronise him."
