Ken Agyapong’s Camp Casts Doubt on Bawumia’s Presidential Chances: “He’s Not Marketable”

  • Kennedy Agyapong’s spokesperson Kwasi Kwarteng has said that Dr Bawumia will not help the NPP win power in 2028 if made flagbearer
  • He claimed the former Vice President is unmarketable and poses no threat to Agyapong's campaign but endangers the party's future
  • The NPP’s 2026 flagbearer race is heating up with Dr Bawumia and Agyapong leading in separate polls ahead of the January vote

The Spokesperson for Kennedy Agyapong's campaign, Kwasi Kwarteng, has expressed doubts about Dr Mahamudu Bawumia's chances of winning the 2028 presidential election if elected as the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to Mr Kwarteng, the NPP will struggle to wrestle power back from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) with Dr Bawumia, the former Vice President of Ghana, as its presidential candidate.

"If Dr Bawumia wins, it's not a threat to Ken's campaign but rather to the NPP as a party. No matter how you market him (Bawumia), people don't want to patronise him," Kwasi Kwarteng said.

These remarks from Mr Kwarteng come as Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a flagbearer hopeful of the NPP, prepares to file his nomination this week.
