The purported defamatory claims made by Abronye

During the live broadcast, Abronye DC, who is the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), allegedly described Dr Abbey as "proud and arrogant."

Speaking Twi, the controversial politician purportedly claimed that Dr Abbey transported his chair in a separate car during his recent tour of cocoa farms throughout the country.

The NPP Bono Regional Chairman is also alleged to have labelled the COCOBOD boss as a "thief" who has appointed a new Director of Finance with the intention of “stealing money from the Ghana Cocoa Board, to the detriment of poor cocoa farmers.

Randy Abbey denies Abronye's allegation

However, in the writ of summons, Dr Abbey, who was the immediate past host of the Goodmorning Ghana show on Metro TV, categorically denied Abronye's allegations.

Dr Abbey asserts that his two decades of experience and multiple leadership roles across media, sports, and business are evidence of his strong moral character and integrity.

Dr Abbey is further seeking a perpetual injunction preventing Baffoe from making any additional defamatory statements.

The writ, issued by the High Court of Justice in Accra, directs Kwame Baffoe to enter an appearance within eight days of being served.
