Ghanaian artist Ibrahim Mahama has spoken after a recent video surfaced, showing an abandoned plane that was once used by the now-defunct Ghana Airways airline.
On Thursday, August 28, Ibrahim Mahama disclosed on X that he now owns the abandoned plane, which he purchased from Antrak Air three years ago.

Ibrahim Mahama justifies abandoned airplane acquisition
He explained that the motive behind that particular acquisition was to transform the plane into a “moving museum” that could travel across the country.
In his post, he added that his vision was still on course and expressed appreciation to former Ghanaian footballer Sulley Muntari, detailing how his cleaning company helped wash the huge plane.
“I bought this plane from Antrak Air almost 3 years ago and rebranded it back to Ghana Airways as it is today. The whole point was to transform it into a moving museum across the country, so look out for that soon. Thanks to Sulley Muntari, his cleaning company helped us wash it,” Mahama wrote.
He further opened up on the relevance of buying the abandoned plane.
“It is Ghana Airways. It was sold to Antrak Air after the airline collapsed. My idea was to revive the memory of it, which is why I rebranded it into its original form. My mom took this plane to Mecca in 1988. So many memories are tied to this aircraft.”

Ibrahim Mahama’s clarification came after a social media post showing the plane in a dilapidated state went viral.
A Ghanaian man caused a stir online after posting a video of the abandoned plane sitting on vast bare land.
Ghana Airways Limited was the national airline of Ghana until it ceased operations in 2004.
