Following the bail denial of controversial journalist Akyenkwaa Nana Kofi Asare, a Ghanaian man has voiced his frustration on the case.

The frustrated supporter of the Wontumi Radio presenter was seen standing outside the Accra High Court on August 25, 2026, questioning the nation's stance on freedom of expression and speech.
His vexation comes after Nana Asare, a prominent journalist known for his controversial statements, was arrested on August 25, 2025.
He was apprehended after making allegations on a live broadcast linking President John Dramani Mahama to the recent tragic Ghana Air Force (GAF) Z9 helicopter crash.

The crash, which occurred on August 6, 2025, in the Ashanti Region, claimed the lives of eight individuals, including Dr Edward Omane Boamah, the Defence Minister, and Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, the Environment Minister.
Asare's allegations about the President sparked a national outcry, leading to his swift arrest, which many perceive as an attempt to silence public objection.
Ghanaian man criticises Nana Asare’s bail denial
As reported by YEN.com.gh, the broadcaster, who was not able to make bail on August 14, went again to court for a redress on Monday, August 25, 2025, but was subsequently denied bail and remanded again.
The court has adjourned his case to August 27, 2025
The yet-to-be-identified man, who happens to be a supporter of Asare, passionately argued against the government's actions and decision to deny him bail yet again.
According to him, the Ghanaian government is trying to prevent the broadcaster from exercising his right to free speech, stating that the government's actions would deter foreign investors from associating with the country.
