Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has advised Roman Fada, the running mate of the late Akua Donkor, to join the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The former statesman, who was the first President from the NPP, shared his advice when Roman Fada visited him at home.

The politican aspirant called on the former leader to inform him about the funeral arrangements of late highlife singer Daddy Lumba.

He used to work as Daddy Lumba's manager and was a broadcaster at the late singer's radio station, DL FM.

In their conversation, Roman Fada told Kufuor of his plans to contest as the flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) following the passing of his party's founder, Akua Donkor.

"You have to join a better party. Add your party to mine," the former President said as he teased Roman Fada.

Akua Donkor's death, on October 28, 2024, occurred just weeks before the 2024 general elections, forcing her running mate, Roman Fada, to become the presidential candidate of the Ghana Freedom Party.

What happened to late politician Akua Donkor?

Akua Donkor's cause of death remains unknown. Reports indicated that she was unwell and had been hospitalised when she died.

Her daughter also noted that she had complained of breathing difficulties.

She was first hospitalised at the Nsawam Government Hospital. When her condition did not improve, she was referred to the Ridge Hospital in Accra early on October 28, where she eventually passed in the intensive care unit.

The viral politician and farmer started her political career when she was elected as the assemblywoman for Herman in the Eastern Region.

She registered her first presidential attempt in 2012 when she applied to run as an independent candidate but was disqualified.

Akua Donkor was set to make her fourth attempt to be president and had picked number three on the presidential ballot paper when she passed away.
