Man United Fans Declare Andre Onana ‘Finished’ After Horror Show vs Grimsby

Manchester United fans were left fuming after another nightmare performance from Andre Onana against Grimsby, with many calling him one of the club’s worst-ever signings.

Ruben Amorim’s men travelled to Blundell Park on Wednesday night for their Carabao Cup second-round tie against the League Two side.

It was United’s earliest exit from the tournament in more than ten years, underlining their miserable 2024/25 campaign.

And while the Red Devils were overwhelming favourites on paper, they carried the added burden of going into the match without a win from their first two Premier League games.

However, Grimsby silenced Ruben Amorim's side by striking first in the 22nd minute, with Charles Vernam squeezing a shot past Onana at his near pos, per Yahoo Sports.

Just eight minutes later, the under-pressure goalkeeper was culpable again, failing to deal with a corner that dropped for Tyrell Warren to tap home into an empty net as seen in the video below.

United clawed their way back with late goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire to force a penalty shootout, but Onana saved only one of 12 spot-kicks as Grimsby held their nerve to clinch a famous victory.

Furious United fans quickly took to social media, blasting the Cameroonian keeper for another costly display.

The Cameroon shot-stopper wasn’t the only one in the firing line, as furious fans also turned on Ruben Amorim after the Carabao Cup humiliation, piling even more pressure on the under-fire Portuguese coach, with growing calls for his dismissal.

Amorim is under serious scrutiny, with just one win in his last seven games and a win rate barely above 37% since taking charge, per the BBC.

Ghanaian-born Japanese goalkeeper to replace Onana?

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that Manchester United have reportedly intensified their interest in Japanese-Ghanaian Zion Suzuki as they expand their search for a potential replacement for Andre Onana.

The 22-year-old shot-stopper has been added to a growing shortlist, which now includes six names, as the Red Devils explore their options between the sticks.
